Ward of Court
This is an application to Court of have an individual made a Ward of Court, in circumstances where he or she is unable to manage their own affairs due to mental incapacity.

If, having considered the independent evidence, the Court is satisfied that the individual is not capable of managing their own affairs due to mental incapacity, it will appoint a committee (usually made up of close relatives), answerable to the Court, to look after the individuals affairs on their behalf.
It should also be noted that the necessity to make an individual a Ward of Court can be circumvented if they have a properly drafted enduring power of attorney.
